Introducing Our UK Correspondents: Enhancing the Critical Care Commute Podcast

In an exciting stride towards enriching our content and extending our reach, we are thrilled to introduce our UK correspondents for the Critical Care Commute podcast. As we embark on this journey to expand our platform, we are delighted to welcome Drs. Marcus Peck and Jonny Wilkinson to our team. Their expertise and unique perspectives promise to elevate our discussions and broaden our understanding of critical care practices in the UK and beyond.

The UK boasts a rich history of healthcare innovation and has made significant contributions to the field of critical care medicine. By incorporating UK-based insights, we can offer a more comprehensive view of global practices, fostering cross-cultural exchange and learning among our listeners. Dr Marcus Peck:

Marcus is an NHS anaesthetist and intensive care consultant. He has held significant positions such as the UK/international network lead and past-cochair of the Intensive Care Society’s Focused Ultrasound in Intensive Care (FUSIC) committee. He is a passionate advocate for POCUS, actively involved in speaking engagements and teaching, aiming to improve training opportunities and quality assurance in POCUS. Marcus is dedicated to integrating POCUS into standard practice for all frontline clinicians, working to overcome organizational barriers. He maintains an online presence on Twitter/X under the handle @ICUltrasonica, where he shares insights and engages with the community. His insights into clinical practice, patient care, and healthcare policy are invaluable assets that will enrich our discussions and provide listeners with valuable perspectives from the frontline.

Dr Jonny Wilkinson:

Jonny is a Consultant in Intensive care medicine and Anaesthesia in Northampton, UK. He trained in Nottingham, where he undertook a fellowship in thoracic anaesthesia. He is the editor in chief of the Oxford Handbook of Thoracic Anaesthesia and founder of http://www.criticalcarenorthampton.com.

When not on Twitter/X (@wilkinsonjonny), he is a national and international expert in point of care ultrasound, with specialist interests in the use of handheld devices to assess the critically ill patient. He is the NICE IV fluid lead for his trust, promoting safe fluid prescription and education on fluid physiology. He is a member of the ICS council and National lead for DVT/Regional, Vascular access and Vascular POCUS on the FUSIC committee (Focused Intensive Care Ultrasound).

Together, Drs. Marcus Peck and Jonny Wilkinson will serve as ambassadors of critical care excellence, sharing their knowledge, experiences, and insights to inform, inspire, and empower our listeners. We are excited to embark on this collaborative journey and look forward to the enriching discussions and discoveries that lie ahead.
